EVERYBODY wants to get a ticket for league leaders Arsenal – but the club announced on Wednesday that the price is going up.

Season ticket holders at the Emirates Stadium were told an increase of around 5 per cent was on its way – and the pass would cover fewer games.

In the past, a season ticket covered 26 matches – meaning 19 league games and seven in the cups, including midweek European action.

The allocation on the new passes is dropping to 22, just as the Gunners look like they are about to return to the Champions League.

A club statement read: “The move follows ongoing feedback from season ticket holders who want more flexibility around attending matches and to support our desire to make more tickets available to our growing membership base. Removing the four cup credits from the season ticket will also make up to 150,000 additional match tickets available for members to purchase next season.”

Members are fans who pay a fee at the start of the season to access ticket-buying on a match-by-match basis.

The club said it was also cracking down on black market ticket touting and that anybody found to be involved would be banned from being a member.

Arsenal said thousands of memberships were cancelled because of this each season.
