Opinion: It’s sad for Ange Postecoglou that we are living in a world where mockery is at its very mockiest

THERE was a sweet moment last week when, like a child on Capri Sun, Ange Postecoglou finally got to do the press conference he’s been desperate to do.
Spurs had slipped into the semi-finals of Europe’s b-rate competition – a ropey Rumbelows tournament summed up by the fact they will play the mighty Bodo/Glimt in the last four.
And, mate, he was going to enjoy it.
“The players have never lost belief. People like to mock and diminish my achievements but I’ll leave that there,” he insisted triumphantly, days before Tottenham’s 18th Premier League defeat of the season.
Don’t worry, other results meant that they are now mathematically safe from relegation – midway through April.
It’s sad for this “nice bloke” that we are now living in a world where this mockery he talks of is at its very mockiest.
The easy access of that AI they have now meant that even as he tried to celebrate a penalty in Frankfurt, the cruel memes were being generated faster than he could talk.
They included this circulating image of the Tottenham boss’s apparent next job as the bod inside the Gunnersaurus costume.
A bit unfair on the dinosaur, if you ask me.
Imaginative trolling, others will say, but what an age to be the manager of Tottenham Hotspur.
