BUKAYO Saka was sensationally snubbed at the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) awards on Tuesday, although Arsenal did dominate the Premier League Team of the Year.

The Gunners boasted the meanest defence last season, conceding just 29 goals in 38 league games. That achievement was marked by goalkeeper David Raya and centre-backs Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba making it into the best XI, alongside midfield lynchpin Declan Rice and Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard.

But there was no place for Saka, who recorded career-best stats of 20 goals and 14 assists in all competitions last term as Mikel Arteta’s side were narrowly pipped to the Premier League title by Manchester City.

Fans were quick to take to social media, pointing out that you can’t take the awards too seriously when Chelsea’s Cole Palmer was named the PFA Young Player of the Year – but also left out of the PFA Team of the Year.
