Cannabis can trigger acute psychotic episodes

• NO one want to see a young person’s life derailed by the legal consequences of illegal drug experimentation but it is unfortunate mayor Sadiq Khan has chosen to treat cannabis as though it is less harmful than other illegal drugs.

This gives a misleading message. Cannabis has a harmful impact on cognitive functioning and can trigger acute psychotic episodes. Teenage use can lead to longstanding psychotic illness depending on individual vulnerability and dose.

Cultures which have lived with cannabis for generations do not tolerate use by young people. They have learned this age group suffers the most harm.
