DYLAN Jones is stepping down as the editor of the Standard – just a couple of months after its awkward once-a-week rebrand.

Awkward because its magazine presentation on newspaper print has hardly set the capital alive with excitement.

A jumble of articles searches for a common thread and new email newsletters like The Londoner from Mill Media and former Guardian journalist Jim Waterson’s London Centric have spied a vacancy for investigative journalism in the city.

It was a historic and sad moment when the Standard gave up its nightly pitch and its next editor has a hell of a job on their hands.
