EVER since his turn as Caesar in the Planet Of The Apes trilogy, I’ve kept an eye out for the inventive Andy Serkis.
Not everything he touches turns to gold – try sitting through last year’s SAS Red Notice for proof of that – but his projects are nearly always one for the watch list.
He is currently working on a new movie production of Orwell’s Animal Farm, but we now learn that he also has Madame [Marie] Tussaud in his sights.
While you may not understand how waxworks draw such large queues to the attraction near Baker Street every day, a new series, Madame!, is set to present its founder as – to quote Serkis – “an extraordinarily pioneering businesswoman who built her business from scratch”.
The escape from a “reign of terror” in France does sound worth another look, even if you wonder what somebody who lived through the French Revolution would make of the glitzy showbiz faces considered worthy of a wax double in 2022.
