IT would have been rude not to join my young and excitable colleagues on the office bonding trip to the Jeff Wayne’s War of The Worlds immersive experience last week – but perhaps it was Harrington who ended up most enchanted.

The actors certainly earn their money as they dash from room to room, dealing with smart-aleck participants. No doubt they have heard everything the public has said before but quick responses and improv is always a special talent.

As we took a virtual reality trip up the Thames with headsets on, our faces were splashed with water.

Who knows how this pure artistry was achieved, but Harrington hopes it is somebody’s gainful employment to walk around the dark set with a water pistol soaking people as they please.

That would be a job that surely wouldn’t get boring.
