FRESH from his eight-wicket haul against Ealing last weekend, Joel Hughes continued his brilliant bowling form on Saturday when he picked up another six wickets against Brondesbury.

The North Middlesex skipper took his six scalps at the expense of just 30 runs as Brondesbury were dismissed for 82 in the 40th over at Park Road in Hornsey.

It didn’t need much of a push to get North Midd over the winning line, with opener Matthew Cracknell and Tej Sheopuri hitting 37 and 38 runs respectively to ease the home side to 83-2 within 19 overs to seal an eight-wicket win.

It puts them second in the Premier Division of the Middlesex County Cricket League, seven points behind leaders Crouch End.

Meanwhile, Hampstead were just as ruthless as they secured a seven-wicket win against Finchley at Lymington Road in West Hampstead. Ben Frazer was the pick of the Hampstead bowlers, taking 3 for 18 as Finchley were bowled out for 125 in the 46th over. Muhammad Ahmed (2-9) and Scott Barlow (2-34) also bowled well to take two wickets each.

Openers George Adair, who scored 28 runs, and Mubasher Hassan, who hit 33, got Hampstead off to a bright start with the bat. Captain and wicketkeeper Callum Jackson also scored 28 runs, while Beckham Wheeler-Greenall hit an unbeaten 20 as the home side reached their winning score of 129-3 inside 18 overs.

Hampstead stay eighth in the 10-team table.
