WICKET after wicket fell as Joel Hughes put in a devastating bowling display against Ealing on Saturday at Park Road.

The North Middlesex captain collected no fewer than eight wickets at the expense of just 25 runs in a dominant
11.3-over spell. His efforts, which included removing openers Mylo Wilkin and Ahmad Elech for just one run each, saw Ealing skittled for 64 in the 28th over.

Hughes had earlier hit an unbeaten 17 with the bat as North Midd were bowled out for 177.

Yet again this season, Evan Flowers top-scored for the home side with an aggressive 52 off 77 balls, which included three fours and two sixes.

Fergal Walter also batted well for 37 to help set North Midd up for what proved, thanks to Hughes, a comfortable 113-run victory.

The result moves them up to third in the Premier Division of the Middlesex County Cricket League, just seven points behind leaders Crouch End.

Elsewhere, Hampstead recorded a much-needed four-wicket win against Brondesbury at their home ground in Lymington Road, West Hampstead.

Having opted to start in the field, Ben Lockrose (3-28) and Ben Frazer (3-19) picked up three wickets apiece as Brondesbury were dismissed for 136 after 50 overs.

In reply, Hampstead kept the runs ticking over just enough to reach their winning total of 137-6 without igniting too much panic. Beckham Wheeler-Greenall top-scored with 26, while Sam Evison and Jack Biddulph both hit knocks of 20.

The win, only their second of the season, leaves Hampstead eighth in a 10-team table.
