AbdulHai

Councillor Abdul Hai

• THE Somali Youth Development Resource Centre (SYDRC) has known Councillor Abdul Hai for the last 10 years, (Tories call for Labour councillor to be removed in missed cabinet meetings row, October 10).

One of his main characteristics is that he is sincere in his work and genuinely strives for a better community and borough.

Cllr Hai has been instrumental to the Youth Safety Taskforce report, meeting communities, in particular, the Somali community who has faced many challenges within the last few years with knife crime.

The support he and others provided to the Somali community, at a time when leadership was most needed, speaks volumes of the man.

From our experience Cllr Hai is always keen to meet and listen, learn and engage with members of the community.

If someone wants to see an example of Cllr Hai’s contribution as a councillor, look no further the report and recommendations from the taskforce, which are vital in addressing ways forward to combat youth issues and look at how youth violence and such tragedies could be prevented.
