THE River Tyburn was among the inspirations for some eye-catching new window displays designed by university students.

Twelve students at the University of Westminster were set the challenge to reimagine a series of temporary window spaces in Blandford Street, New Quebec Street and Seymour Place.

The waterway serves as a powerful metaphor for the neighbourhood’s unseen layers, according to the winning concept created by fashion design students Angela Cammarota, 21 and Souki Faulkner, 22.

Together, they said: “We loved having the chance to explore Marylebone through the eyes of fashion design students and to discover so many patterns, details and stories hidden in plain sight. From decorative coal holes and ribbons on buildings to the River Tyburn beneath our feet, there was inspiration everywhere. Seeing those ideas come to life in Hidden Marylebone has been incredibly exciting, and we hope the installation encourages other people to look a little closer at the area too.”

Hidden Marylebone is the result of a collaborative design challenge delivered by The Portman Estate and Baker Street Quarter Partnership, in partnership with the university.
