• AN obscene example is being set by the Queen in investing her ill-gotten gains in offshore tax havens, given that she is an employee of the country and indeed a beneficiary of immense sums from the taxpayer.

Surely she deserves our outright condemnation. And then she has invested in a company, BrightHouse, which was recently forced to return monies to victims of its disgusting practices.

This demonstrates her contempt for her subjects. It is high time we this country became a republic and dispensed with these parasites.

I have long been a supporter of the Republic campaign for an elected head of state, and remember our MP Tulip Siddiq agreeing with that organisation as did her predecessor Glenda Jackson.
