It’s time for action not just pledges

• AT last the Marble Arch Mound has gone, along with the squander-bug Conservative council.

Our new Labour city council needs to enact its manifesto. No increase in council tax, no alteration to rubbish collection and no closure of libraries.

If anything, a new stand-alone central library, accessible by public transport rather than the former council’s intention to shoehorn it into the Seymour Leisure Centre.

It’s a long list of demands from dealing with fly-tipping, a shortage of housing, and a failing high street.

As long as they steer clear of fanciful, overpriced schemes merely to lure tourists to the West End and, instead, direct their efforts towards the betterment of all Westminster taxpayers and our environment then all will benefit.
