ARSENAL are in pole position to re-sign Chloe Kelly on a permanent basis this summer following a successful loan spell back in north London.

Kelly’s contract with Manchester City expires at the end of this month, and the 27-year-old winger looks primed to return to her roots by agreeing a long-term deal at the club where her glittering career started.

Having helped the Gunners win the Champions League in May, it only makes sense that the reunion should move into extra-time. But for now, Kelly says her sights are firmly fixed on preparing for the Women’s Euros next month with England.

“I’m just allowing my representatives to do the work behind the scenes,” she said. “My focus is solely on England. No matter whether it’s done or not, my focus is solely on the tournament ahead.

“Arsenal took me from a dark place and gave me an opportunity, and we achieved incredible things together, so let’s see what happens.”

The Lionesses start the defence of their European crown against rivals France on Saturday, July 5, and will also play the Netherlands and Wales in the group stages.
