THE mayor of Westminster marked the ninth anniversary of the Westminster Bridge and New Palace Yard attack at a small informal gathering on Sunday.

Five people died on March 22 2017 after Khalid Masood drove a car into pedestrians and then stabbed an unarmed police officer. He was then shot by police.

A plaque commemorates the victims including all 48 people who were injured during the attack.

Lord Mayor Paul Dimoldenberg said: “Sunday marked nine years since the attack on Westminster Bridge and New Palace Yard in which five victims tragically lost their lives and so many were injured.

“We remember Keith, Aysha, Leslie, Kurt and Andreea and honour their memory by continuing to strive for peace and tolerance in our community.”
