POLICE have renewed appeals for witnesses to come forward after a woman was killed in a “hit-and-run” with days to go until Christmas.
The death of the woman, who was in her 50s, happened around 10pm at the Allsops Place junction with Marylebone Road, close to Madame Tussaud’s, last Thursday.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police Service said that a car had failed to stop but two men – aged 29 and 38 – later handed themselves in at a police station.
They were both arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop and were still in custody yesterday afternoon (Thursday), according to the MPS.
The police added that the car that failed to stop after the collision had later been found parked nearby.
London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance had also attended the incident last Thursday.
A younger woman, understood to be in her 40s, was taken to hospital, and has since been discharged.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed or who has footage of the incident, or any road users with dashcam footage, to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD 7169/7Dec. Information can also be provided anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
