HENRY Howeld’s well-crafted century wasn’t enough to stop North Middlesex from being knocked off the top spot in the Premier Division of the Middlesex County Cricket League on Saturday.

Opening the batting alongside Tej Sheopuri, Howeld went on to hit 107 runs off 72 balls in a knock that included 13 fours and four sixes. His efforts helped North Midd reach 207 off 40 overs at Shepherd’s Bush.

The hosts displayed good strength in depth with the bat, however, with opener George Collins scoring 44 runs, while Marcus Howard, who was in at number four, chipped in with 46. Mid-order Jack Taylor and Ali Easton also batted well as they hit 38 and 36 runs respectively.

In the end Shepherd’s Bush reached their winning score of 211-6 in the 48th over to seal a four-wicket victory.
The result saw Teddington overtake North Midd at the top of the table, albeit the two sides are level on 103 points with three games to go.
