HAVING already set his sights on this Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford, Kai Havertz says he “doesn’t want a day off” from training or playing as the Premier League title race goes down to the wire.

The German international once again led the line for Arsenal at the weekend, winning a penalty for the opening goal as the north Londoners eased to a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at Ashburton Grove.

Next up comes another must-win match, this time against Manchester United, and Havertz is hoping that it will bring three more points that will keep the pressure on rivals Manchester City at the top of the table.

Sharing his thoughts on the hunt for silverware, he told the club’s official website: “I’m really enjoying it – it’s brilliant for me personally. The other players especially make it quite easy for me, so I enjoy my role, try to work hard in training and try to help the team.

“I really enjoy every second, sometimes I feel like I don’t even want to have a day off because you’re just so excited for the weekend and really want to work with the team, try to get everything out of us to be better prepared and we do that every single day.

“It’s going to be two tough games [left]. We have a lot to play for, we have to win those games and then see where we’re going to go. Right now, though, the mood is good but we’re going to prepare now for the big game this weekend against Manchester United and hopefully win that as well.”

Mikel Arteta echoed that excitement as he addressed questions as to whether his squad is more mature after narrowly missing out on the title last year. He said: “If a year is enough to do that? [become more mature]. But for some it takes five, 10 years to achieve that. But yes, at the end we are trying to do the right things. The energy and the commitment from the boys in everything we do is unbelievable. And hopefully it will pay off.”

Looking ahead to the United clash this Sunday, and then the final game of the season at home to Everton, Arteta added: “I’m very excited. We have done it for nine and a half months now, so it’s two weeks to go. We really want to get it done. We are closer to where we were yesterday and hopefully we can bring that title here.”

One award has already been snapped up by Arsenal after polarising shot-stopper David Raya was crowned the outright winner of the Premier League’s Golden Glove after earning his 15th clean sheet of the season against Bournemouth.

Arteta said: “It’s a huge success for the team, in this league to achieve that with a few games to go still, with the numbers we are producing.

“It gives us a huge foundation, to be closer to winning titles and winning trophies. The contribution of everybody, including David obviously, is really good.”
