TRAINING initially used in counter terrorism policing is being used by officers to identify West End predators out looking for women and girls.
Westminster police have been training up to spot signs and behavioural cues of potential offenders.
The Metropolitan Police Service said eight men had been stopped in central London by officers working for the operation “Project Vigilant” that includes plain-clothed patrols, trawling through live CCTV, and uniformed officers on standby to respond.
It said six of these were arrested on the latest patrol for offences including sexual assault, drugs, robbery and theft.
Sergeant Augustine Anyaegbuna said: “It is devastating that women and girls are not able to enjoy a night out with friends due to the potential harm they could face at the hands of predatory men.
“I am extremely pleased that our local officers utilised their behavioural detection training.”
