Pedestrianisation of Oxford Street is over-reaction

• THE call to pedestrianise Oxford Street is relentless and over-reactive (West End Extra front page, April 14).

Dangerous junctions should be addressed; as should the basic common sense of pedestrians. Why would you walk in the road and put your life at risk as Ms Sarah Hormozi pointed out on the busiest street in the capital?

As a regular bus user on that stretch of road I am surprised there have not been more bus and pedestrian collisions as people dash across the road in front of moving vehicles.

The mayor has announced that Oxford Street will be pedestrianised. Where will the buses go? What will happen to all the cross junctions and other important arteries? Will cyclists desist from cycling on the walkways?
