Perhaps the property companies should be aware social housing still exists

• CAN I be the only person in the unique position of living in social housing in a highly desirable area?

As a consequence, the block of flats I live in is bombarded with leaflets and letters from upmarket estate agents informing residents of the high prices other properties in the area have recently sold for. Would I be interested in selling my property?

More recently, Knight Frank have written to us: “Dear …” to ask if we can possibly help house employees of leading firms such as Shell, Bank of China and Nomura Bank.

There are a number of families registering for three- to five-bedroom houses, with budgets starting from £1,650 per week. If I am considering letting my property, I can get a free market appraisal and find out what it is worth. Knight Frank is dedicated to finding me an ideal corporate tenant.

Well, much as I would love to help these bankers in their hour of need, I simply cannot, because I am not a homeowner.

Perhaps companies such as Knight Frank should be aware that social housing does still exist, for non-corporate tenants – even in affluent areas – and some things are simply not for sale.
