• PERHAPS it was because he did not go gently that Dylan Thomas faced such antipathy from the landlord of the Black Horse pub in Fitzrovia (Burger bar will flip back to pub, October 5), who barred the Welsh bard.

However maybe there was a certain poetic justice when a licence (albeit as purveyor of burgers) was granted much later to Byron’s burger chain.
