MORE than 20 firefighters tackled a blaze at a restaurant behind Oxford Street on Saturday afternoon.

Around 50 people were evacuated from Maroush in Vere Street. Nobody was injured.

The London Fire Brigade said that the cause of the fire was not known but the restaurant’s ventilation system had been alight.
