Jubilant Labour Party members after gaining control

• THE letter to the Extra from H Conlon (The Labour Party wins, but what about labour? May 27) references what has been called the “Soldiers’ Election”, when British voters dared to turf out the sitting prime minister of the day and Winston Churchill was replaced by Clement Attlee.

My mum served in the Women’s Royal Army Corps and told me of army officers going to bed with revolvers under their pillows “because the ‘Red Revolution’ was on its way”.

This was especially true when the NHS was born (& which was voted against by Conservative MPs in parliament at the time).

If his letter had not been written last week but in pre-IT days, you would probably be correct to state that he had dipped his pen in vitriol when writing it.

At the time of the so-called “Red Wall” seats falling to the Tories in 2019 it was often said Labour had held those seats for too long.

What, then, of the Conservative majority since the formation of Westminster City Council? Does this concern H Conlon?

It may have passed unnoticed but the “Red Revolution” hasn’t come yet and is unlikely to since Labour have taken over Westminster City Council. The takeover is probably owed to the activities of the Westminster resident in No 10 Downing Street.

When the Conservatives finally realise that particular resident has little relationship with the truth, he will be gone and there is a strong likelihood local Tories will be able to return to their slumber of many years unworried by “socialists”.
