The Tories could learn from Merkel

• FOR the Conservatives a look at Germany would be rather helpful. The British Conservatives could learn something from Angela Merkel and the CDU.
In particular that one does not lead from the centre towards the right, but rather the opposite, as modern open-minded society tends to lean ever-more towards the left. This is why even many leftists and the young generation highly appreciate conservative politics.
Thanks to a progressive conservatism, Angela Merkel and her government have been the most successful in German post-war history. Such a path has the power to reunite British society, togetherness and consensus being a more proper goal than the division, the slogan driven right wing politic of last year.
The Conservatives must urgently turn into a truly moderate party.
