Peeps Online has had a very busy week – log on now

VIEWING figures continued to rise this week as our new online politics channel headed to a hostel near Elephant & Castle to speak to the volunteers who give up their time to try and stop vans taking asylum seekers to the Bibby Stockholm detention ship, where they could one day be deported to Rwanda under the government’s immigration policies.

Peeps Online was there as police dragged demonstrators off the pavement in order to try and get the van on the road.

You wil hear how a team of campaigners has resolved to try and defy the “removals” at every turn.

Then we headed to Islington North where Labour had begun choosing its first parliamentary candidate for 40 years after blocking MP Jeremy Corbyn from standing again.

While some residents we met on our walkabout up the Holloway Road said they felt Mr Corbyn was now “a bit old” and should retire, there was no shortage of people who said they would still vote for him as an independent candidate – a move which the former Labour leader has now confirmed.

The constituency is set to be the scene for intense media interest in the coming weeks.

Its aim is to spread our independent, campaigning journalism beyond the confines of Islington’s borough boundaries.
