Rachel Gillingham led bible study groups at the St Luke’s Church – before she was forced to leave the church

• RACHEL Gillingham’s treatment by her church is shocking, (‘Forced out’: Lesbian told being openly gay did not meet church’s behaviour rules, February 4).

By contrast, as long ago as 1963 Quakers published Towards a Quaker view of Sex. Its message was that it’s the quality of the loving relationship that matters, not the gender of the couple.

Since then, many Gay Christians have found a spiritual home with Quakers and have enriched Quaker worship in their turn. Hampstead Quakers are open to all, sadly still on Zoom; but soon, we hope, in person.
