UPDATED: APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED. SORRY WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY FURTHER APPLICATIONS.

THE Camden New Journal group is looking to hire a full-time news journalist.

The role will be on the Islington Tribune newspaper and website. The newspaper, one of the last independent titles in the country, was highly commended at this year’s UK Regional Press Awards.

Applicants should have a working knowledge of our readership areas, a good appreciation of current affairs, online skills, a strong news sense and at least 2+ year experience. The position will be based at our offices in Camden Town.

We are looking for a reporter who is not content with scraping articles from social media and wire copy, and seeks to bring in their own original stories. We value originality above being able to tweet ‘can we use with a credit’ hundreds of times a day.

Being able to interview people with both sensitivity and scrutiny, as required, is a must have skill.

CVs and covering letters with suggestions about what applicants can bring to the role should be sent to the deputy editor Richard Osley, Richard@camdennewjournal.co.uk

Salary will be dependant on experience but competitive with local newspaper industry rates.

There is no closing date as we are looking to fill this position as soon as possible. This page will be updated when the role has been filled.
