Now vote to make Soho safer!

Friday, 23rd August 2024

• AS Labour’s new candidate for the forthcoming by-election in West End ward, I found Soho Society chair Tim Lord’s comment on a possible LNL, late night levy, interesting, (It’s true, £1,000 a table might put people off… but, August 9).

If elected to Westminster City Council, alongside Labour’s existing ward councillors Paul Fisher and Patrick Lilley, I will be supporting a full evaluation of whether to introduce a LNL in the context of the response to the recent Westminster “After Dark” consultation.

I will also stand up for residents who suffer from too many licensed premises in the CIZ, cumulative impact zone.

While not a panacea, a LNL may be one way to get more police on the streets and make our streets safer, especially at night.

I will also press for the return of CCTV to Soho to plug the gaps in the police network caused by the “great switch off” by the previous Tory administration.

A vote for me will be a vote for a safer Soho.
