We shall all need anti-pollution masks soon
Friday, 10th February 2017
• WITH growing public concern about the long-term effects of pollution, it’s difficult to know how the government can get away with building more roads, tunnels and bridges or expanding existing airports.
We now know that traffic fumes interfere with our bodies’ natural immune systems, thereby increasing our vulnerability to infection and leading to diseases such as asthma, bronchitis and cancer.
Unless some dramatic changes of policy are made, it won’t be long before we are all obliged to wear masks to protect our breathing, with those refusing to wear them quickly becoming seriously ill.
