What was going on with the No 46 bus?

• WHAT on Earth happened to the 46 bus route on Monday? I went to the stop in Hampstead outside Barclays Bank, at 12.45pm to catch a bus to Gray’s Inn Road, to attend an appointment.

To my dismay, the sign indicated a 30-minute wait, not only for one but two 46 buses arriving at the same time. I concluded there must have been an accident or incident to cause this delay.

Anxious not to be late, I took a tube to King’s Cross. There I went to the main road and to my amazement saw three 46 buses following one another. I asked the driver of one whether there was a problem. He told me he did not know of any.

This service is bad at the best of times, but this was appalling. I at least had the option of the tube station nearby. But what about people along the route who didn’t have that option or people waiting at a stop without a time indicator?

The 268 bus regularly pauses at a stop to even out the service. Surely the 46 bus could do likewise. Management needs to be improved!
