• I WAS returning home on a Birmingham New Street to London Euston Virgin train as the second-leg of my return journey from visiting family in Hereford.

On that Birmingham to London journey a man in his 40s or 50s came through the train telling each passenger that he was doing a survey on behalf of HS2, and asked just one question: Is your travel Birmingham New Street to London Euston? Given the number about to be made homeless by HS2 and related disruptions, what is the point of such a survey?
