Without answsers I will resist any more ‘health & safety’ work on my balcony

Friday, 30th June 2017

• WITH reference to Alida Baxter’s letter (Don’t rely on any council, June 23) and in particular the point made about timber on the balconies and the use of non-fireproof paint.

I thought she would also like to know that it has now been confirmed that on the balconies of the Dufours Place, Soho, block in question, we are going to have an additional timber panel placed between the gap of the balcony wall and the timber shelf above it.

I have been advised this is for health and safety reasons. I have repeatedly asked for clarification under which regulations they are proposing to do this, but no information has been forthcoming.

So, for now, I have advised the landlords and sub-contractors I will not allow this work to happen on my balcony.
