OF course Bob Dylan’s Rough and Rowdy Ways World Tour London Palladium shows on Oct 19-20, 23 and 24 are sold out. He’s played 74 shows on this tour already and the demand remains high no matter how unintelligible he tries to make his songs. Perhaps that’s why phones are not allowed in the concert hall? Also coming up at the Palladium: The Sound of Joy Division Orchestrated curated by Peter Hook and Manchester Camerata Orchestra (Oct 15) and Marc Almond (Oct 16).

The fellas behind Club de Fromage know how to throw a party. Expect a Dick & Dom DJ set on Oct 8 at Islington Academy with a pop-packed playlist plus confetti cannons, balloons, hula hooping, sing-alongs, air guitaring and more with entry to Not Another Indi Disco included and, on Oct 15 Wrong Jovi mark the 30th Anniversary of Bon Jovi classic Keep The Faith, including free entry to Club de Fromage afterwards with all the usual frills.

• The Union Chapel has a booming pop fortnight ahead with Ed Sheeran playing the venue for the first time as he launches the newly created Wellstock x For One Night Only charity fundraiser in aid of shout on Oct 11; On Oct 15, McFly’s Tom Fletcher launches new novel Space Band with an exclusive live music performance and on Oct 22, Tom Odell celebrates the release of new studio album Best Day of My Life at the Chapel.

The Specials’ Neville Staple celebrates 40 years in the music biz with a special show at Islington Academy on Oct 7.

British folk group The Unthanks play Kings Place on Oct 15, the day after the release of Sorrows Away, their first full ensemble studio album in seven years.

• Hear the voice behind that hook in Kanye’s hit All Falls Down at Jazz Café on Oct 9-10 as Grammy- nominated Syleena Johnson brings her Chicago soul to the venue. Then, on Oct 14 French rapper Josman takes over the stage.

The Men Who Knew Too Much – the new project from award-winning Borat / Da Ali G Show film composer Erran Baron Cohen and Jules Brookes, founder of jazz funk group Raw Stylus – showcase songs from their upcoming EP at The Camden Club on Oct 9.

• Experience the sound that inspired Nirvana when Sonic Youth founder Thurston Moore plays Powerhaus on Oct 7.

BRIT award-winner and twice Mercury Prize nominee Beth Orton plays Koko on Oct 9 following the release of her seventh studio album Weather Alive.

• Suede play the second of two nights at Electric Ballroom on Oct 6.

Sam Duckworth marks 15 years since Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly released Chronicles of a Bohemian Teenager playing the album in full with rhythm and horn section at Scala on Oct 14.

• Galway four-piece The Clockworks play Electrowerkz on Oct 13 following release of new single Advertise Me.

Lafayette has a rich selection coming up – a few highlights: Andrew Cushin (Oct 7); Luke Sital-Singh (Oct 9); Delta Goodrem (Oct 12); Nerina Pallot (Oct 13); Old Dirty Brasstards (Oct 14); Sinead O’Brien (Oct 17) and Wunderhorse (Oct 20).

• They love to eek out the Hyde Park BST line-up announcements. The latest is a Europe exclusive as Billy Joel has been signed up to appear on July 7. He’s the meat in a Bruce Springsteen sandwich as The Boss plays the park on July 6 and 8 – who will be next?

Contemporary composer, pianist and producer Alexis Ffrench plays Barbican on Oct 6 with support from the incredible Egyptian/Scottish Ayoub sisters, discovered by Mark Ronson and whose album Arabesque, a celebration of and tribute to music from the Arab world, reached No 1 in the iTunes chart. On Oct 7, influential electronic duo Autechre bring their new material to Barbican Hall with support from Zoviet France. And, from Oct 8-16, Barbican’s Darbar Festival of Indian classical music returns featuring a fascinating mix of emerging young talent from India and the UK, master performers making UK debuts and performances from world-class maestros and maestras. The line-up includes Shubha Mudgal, Purbayan Chatterjee, Rakesh Chaurasia, Uday Bhawalkar, Bharathi Prathap, Wahane Sisters Duo and Rajrupa Chowdhury.

• Sunbirds, the new band of The Beautiful South founder member Dave Hemingway play Pizza Express Holborn on Oct 15.

Nashville songwriter and producer Sean McConnell has written for the likes of Christina Aguilera, Plain White Ts, Tim McGraw and many more. Hear him singing for himself (and his audience) at The Courtyard Theatre on Oct 18.

• Southend musician MG Boulter, whose album Clifftown inspired a podcast on the hidden histories of his home town, will be accompanied by a collection of outstanding musicians including Lucy Farrell (critically acclaimed folk artist), Harriet Bradshaw (cellist for the likes of I Am Kloot’s John Bramwell and Teesside’s Tom Joshua) and Bryan Styles (London Improvisational Orchestra and The Routes) at his Cecil Sharp House gig on Oct 19.
