Mick Jagger
THE flat where Mick Jagger said to Marianne Faithful “let’s spend the night together” is on the market.
The Rolling Stones’ frontman spend nearly three years at Harley House in Marylebone in the 1960s.
People say this was his all-night partying phase, but I’m not sure such a period can really be narrowed down so tightly.
The singer’s old block
The old story goes that he wanted to live there because he was always close to a medic in nearby Harley Street if the effects of his excesses got the better of him.
It was a golden period for the band, a time when hits like Ruby Tuesday and Out of Town were charting.
So did Paint It Black, although he never did that to the flat.
A weird lullaby about telling a secret girlfriend to stay away from him called Backstreet Girl is also from that time.
It’s an unheralded gem of a song, but who inspired it?
