Harrington: Rob to Romesh to Jimmy to Rob
Comedian numbers have dwindled dangerously low, as the same 20 or so go from show to show
Friday, 7th March

THE tube posters are up for Last One Laughing – the latest vehicle for the crown prince of Botox himself, Jimmy Carr.
It is worth noting it didn’t take very long for everybody to forget his pointless “joke” about the Holocaust murders of hundreds of thousands of Travellers at the hands of the Nazis a couple of years back.
But you’d almost have to throw away your television set if you wanted to boycott him because Carr is among only maybe 20 comedians left in Britain. We know numbers have dwindled so dangerously low because it’s the same 20 or so who have to go from show to show, being on everything.
After Rob Beckett has appeared on Jimmy Carr’s Last One Laughing, Jimmy Carr has to be ready to appear on Rob Beckett’s Smart TV panel show.
And poor Joe Wilkinson has to do that, and then head to 8 Out of 10 Cats as well where he’ll see Carr again hosting.
But not Romesh Ranganathan, because he’ll be busy chatting to Rob Beckett on A League Of Their Own, and then delivering some wondrous teasing of the same comedian faces on The Weakest Link.
That’s if they are all not busy together filming hilarious switcharoos on David Mitchell’s Outsiders, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year, Bake Off or being “surprised” on Michael McIntyre’s Midnight Game Show.
A Romesh’s work is never done.
