THOUSANDS took to the streets on the weekend for the Trans+ Pride march.

The event, from Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner through to Soho Square, drew trans, non-binary and gender nonconforming people from across the country.

There were speeches from campaigners Munroe Bergdorf, Bimini Bon-Boulash, Kai-Isaiah Jamal, Ki Griffin and Abigail Thorn.

The organisers said the demonstration aimed to “unite our voices against the continued and increasing disregard for trans safety, health care and wellbeing in the UK” at a time of “increased isolation”.

They added: “We need to continue to put pressure on the UK government to invest in trans health care, accessible bathroom provisions and prison facilities, and to ban forced surgeries for intersex children and other pseudoscientific conversion therapies. We march in memory of all the trans pioneers: siblings, leaders and loved ones who even in death survive so that we can thrive.

“We march for trans life.”
