Where was the respect for the homeless?

Police-tents

Homeless people were evicted from their sleeping spot next to a UCLH

• I READ with horror your reports of the removal of the homes of the homelessness, (Homeless tents tossed into a rubbish truck, the images that shame Camden, November 16).

I have volunteered for 10 drop-ins for four years, including food banks. I still do a lot of voluntary work in this area all over London.

Homelessness is not all drugs and rock’n’roll by any means. Many homeless people are former servicemen and women and this was a disgrace just after Armistice Day.

Homeless people may be former domestic violence survivors, or from broken relationships, or seriously ill.

Was any thought given to the fact that the tents and belongings were the only irreplaceable items the people had left? Where was the respect and dignity for them?

I trust that all have been rehoused and awarded damages. This was a disgraceful and a shameful occurrence. In my view heads should roll forthwith.
