IN a tacky beach resort we meet jilted brides, drag king politicians, a pregnant murderess and a boy band. Polly – The Heartbreak Opera, is billed as a riotous, radical sequel to John Gay’s The Beggar’s Opera, with techno, tracksuits, palm trees and songs inspired by Peaches, Britney and Nina Simone. • In Between the Lines, a pirate radio station broadcasts Jungle and Grime from a rundown council flat in Hackney. Blaze FM offers raw new music, as well as providing a community hub. • Created by Brendan Murphy, FRIEND (The One with Gunther) recalls the entire 236 episodes of the 90s TV show, Friends, through the eyes of Gunther, Central Perk’s “seventh Friend’”. • Cutting the Tightrope features a collection of short plays from Hassan Abdulrazzak, Sonali Bhattacharyya, Ahmed Masoud, Nina Segal, Sami Abu Wardeh and others, written in response to the creeping threat to free expression in the arts. 7pm, May 10-18. Suzan-Lori Parks’ The Book of Grace, reveals a divided nation. Grace lives with her husband Vet, a patrol officer on the Texas-Mexico border. When Vet is awarded a medal for his service, Grace invites his estranged son Buddy to join them at the ceremony. • A crocodile is weaving its way through the jungle in search of delicious little fingers and squidgy knees. Only the other jungle creatures can foil his secret plans, but they need a lot of courage to stop this greedy brute. At Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, this musical version of Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile, includes a menagerie of mischievous puppets.
