An abundance of new talent and auld acquaintances at New Year's Eve gigs to welcome in 2025

There are just a few days left of the year to party in 2024 and, as usual, our venues do not disappoint.

From a little bit of jungle from General Levy at Jazz Cafe to a New Year’s Ceilidh at Cecil Sharp house, to Swedish metal and a whole lot of themed parties, there should be something for everyone.

Here’s what we found:

DEC 27:
• General Levy + Killa P + Oram + Speaker Louis + RJD, Jazz Cafe
• Dork’s Night Out ft Home Counties + Girlband! + Adult DVD, 100 Club.

DEC 28:
• Mithras + Cairns, The Black Heart;
• TBC + The Drop Jonnies + Joe Lugosi + The Drop Jonnies, The Dublin Castle.

DEC 29
• Speedvark, The Fiddler’s Elbow.

 

NEW YEAR’S EVE

 

Gavin and Stacey’s Mathew Horne is guest DJ at The Propaganda NYE Party at the Electric Ballroom

• NYE with Joe Kay, HERE at Outernet – DJ and radio host Joe Kay, the founder of Soulection Radio experiments with global soulful sounds, from amapiano to alt R&B to old school hip-hop to baile funk.

New Year’s Eve Ceilidh, Cecil Sharp House. With music from ceilidh band Banter, caller Fee Lock will guide dancers through the moves with gender-free calling. Come with your friends or alone – suitable for all levels of experience. All genders and dress codes welcome.

• Electronic Nights ft Mr Scruff, Dombrance (live), Demi Riquisimo, Joshua James, Scarlett O’Malley, Sue Veneers, KOKO.

• If you prefer to ring in the new year to the sound of thrashing metal guitars, head to Islington Assembly Hall where Swedish rock band H.E.A.T. will be bringing all the rock you need.

• A New Year’s Eve Fracas: The Social’s staff take over the venue’s basement to throw a proper house party. Live music from O. + SL4P + mptl Microplastics + DJs: Acid Mojito + Baba Ali + DC FSLMan + Shauna McGowan + HMS Buckfast + Iko Chérie plus DJs upstairs and down till late.

• Dele Sosimi’s Afrobeat Vibration party returns to The Jazz Cafe (after a five-year absence) on New Year’s Eve. A full orchestra of all-star players (lead and conducted by Dele) will play a four hour marathon session channeling the party spirit from the sound’s glorious history.

• Age Against The Machine is back at Dingwalls with another huge party for the older clubber with a special NYE event for the over-30s only – and this time, their old friends Old School Indie are coming along to take over a second room for some more mature dad dancing. In the Main Room Don and Reg will be playing pop, rock, disco, dance and soul with Age Against the Machine, while in Room 2, Old School Indie keep it real with irresistible floor fillers. Expect confetti, massive sing-alongs and a lot of silliness. ID essential for entry.

• White Heat NYE Party, The Lexington – the best indie, new wave and post-punk party starters, some 80s hits for good measure and NYE bangers till 4am!

• Propaganda London’s NYE Party, Electric Ballroom features a special guest DJ set from Gavin and Stacey’s Mathew Horne and DJ Dan (Oasis Aftershow DJ).Expect indie and alternative tunes all night long.

• 90s v 00s New Year’s Eve House Party, Islington Academy, curfew 4am – night of throwback hits covering all genres of music to keep the party going from the 90s and 00s.

• NYE at Spiritland with Miche playing Soul, Funk, Boogie, Disco and some Brazilian tracks. With only 70 tickets available, this is one exclusive party.

• Fever105’s Midnight Funk: Dimitri From Paris, Bill Brewster, Colleen Murphy, Poly-Ritmo + Theon Bower + Shaka Loves You, Lafayette

• NYE Black and White Extravaganza ft Holly Penfield & her band + special Eurovision entry Luke Black and a magic light show plus casino and DJ,The Camden Club – live music, DJs, general admission £20 or £99 for unlimited food and drinks. DJ set until 4am.

• Nightshift New Year’s Eve at Camden Assembly – two floors of music: Room 1: SNEAK brings back-to-back house DJ sets until 6am; Room 2: Pop’d residents bring a mix of hits, chart-toppers, and New Year’s Eve classics.

• Deptford Northern Soul Club NYE – disco freaks and northern grooves and Let Me Cry DJs (Chloe Ackers & Kaya Heaton B2B), The Garage.

• Kris Barras Band Unplugged – accompan­ied by Josiah J Manning, Union Chapel.

• NYE, The Old Queen’s Head – DJs on both floors playing a mix of genres; hip hop, r’n’b, afrobeats, some house and more.

• The Water Rats New Year’s Eve Showdown – Rusty Halo + Titchy + Silvercain + Daym + Cheap Date + Human Bean Juice.

• The World’s End will be featuring live music from cinematic rock outfit The Vone, a group of English, Polish and Brazilian musicians fronted by actor-musician Marcelo Cervone – live music from 6pm, DJ from 9pm.

 

JANUARY

JAN 1:
• Eastenderz London New Year’s Day – HERE at Outernet. Start the year phone free and punctual at Outernet’s special Eastenderz party ft Obskur, DXNBY, Ayme are joining East End Dubs – last entry 5.30pm, no gym wear, no phone policy and physical photo ID essential!

• Glitterbox New Year’s Day ft Horse Meat Disco + Mousse T + Minna, KOKO

• A New Year’s Day Celebration – The History of House (Full Live Band), Jazz Cafe; Award-winning house music collective Bassically performs house music classics with 100 per cent live instrumentation, for an early-evening new year celebration.

JAN 2:
