THE preparations for the new season are well underway, with Camden Town WFC already setting their sights on a crucial away day in the FA Cup.

Town will kick off their competitive fixtures with a tricky trip to the south coast when they take on Bexhill United in the first qualifying round of the prestigious competition on Sunday, September 1.

Should they progress, Harry Sherman’s side would then earn a home tie against either Tonbridge Angels or South London on Sunday, September 22.

Camden have every reason to be confident ahead of the new campaign. They beat South London 5-0 on Sunday to make it three wins out of three so far in pre-season.

“I am really pleased with our preparations,” said Sherman. “Our hope was to continue the form we finished the season in, and the players have not only done that but have raised their levels, too.

“We’re excited to get our FA Cup campaign underway and hopefully achieve something great this season.”

The big games will soon be coming thick and fast for Town. Their campaign in the Premier Division of the Greater London Women’s League starts with a bang when they host Camden & Islington United at the Maurice Rebak Stadium.

Speaking about the club’s progress off the pitch, chairman Richard Mahoney said “the appetite for businesses, both small and large, that want to get involved with women’s football has grown again this year”.
He added: “We now have a total of 20 commercial partnerships and sponsors including a global brand that you will see on our shirts from next month, and we are excited to announce shortly.
“Running the club at the level we do requires significant investment as our budget is around 10 times the size of our competitors. But we have worked extremely hard over the years to punch above our weight, and my feeling is that this is the season you will see us get our rewards on the pitch.”
